Carmen Uballe, age 59, of Elgin, Texas, passed away on May 6, 2022. Carmen was born on December 5, 1962, in Fredericksburg, Texas, to Pablo and Carmen (Ruiz Huerta) Uballe.

Carmen was a 1981 graduate of Elgin High School and an active part of the Elgin community for decades. She was a two-time cancer survivor, once of breast and then ovarian. She was truly a warrior and an inspiration to others. No matter the obstacle she was trying to overcome, Carmen always had a smile to share and would praise God for giving her another day with her family.

Carmen worked as an Elgin Municipal Court Clerk and Associate Judge for nearly 15 years for the City of Elgin. She then worked for Bluebonnet Electric for 21 years and retired in 2022. She was dedicated to her profession and took joy in helping members with their services. Members would stop by in-person just to visit with Carmen and to ask for some of her plant clippings so they could make their garden as beautiful as hers. Her green thumb was renowned. She always took pride in her flowers and thoroughly protected them through the Texas freeze of February 2021.

Carmen loved her Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and San Antonio Spurs (especially Tim Duncan). She loved to dance and was the life of any party. Carmen’s smile and laughter can be described as nothing other than infectious. She was a social butterfly and made friends wherever she went, even at the airport waiting for a flight to Japan.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that Carmen is now dancing in the sky with her mother, embracing her father who passed away when she was a teen, and sitting alongside her beloved Rusty, who was her devoted four-legged companion for over 14 years.

Carmen is survived by her three children, John Martinez, Jaime Martinez, and Veronica Guerrero, and two grandchildren, Evan Owens and Jaelyn Barker.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Arrangements entrusted to Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.
