Repairs on the Elgin Police Department building are continuing with asbestos removal and mold remediation. A historic winter storm, followed by considerable continuous spring rain, worsened roof leaks at the Elgin police station. Currently, repairs are underway to fix the leaks and the mold damage they caused. The police station suffered damage from the February winter storm, which worsened existing minor leaks and caused more significant leaks. The February freeze was followed by heavy rain in May.
