A gas leak caused Walmart to be evacuated for several hours on a Sunday afternoon.On Sunday, May 29, the Elgin Police Department and Elgin Fire Department were on scene around 12:24 p.m. to assess a gas leak at Walmart. The store was evacuated and temporarily closed. According to an announcement from EPD, this was an isolated incident and people were asked to avoid the area.Walmart was still closed at 3:30 p.m., while the gas company was en route to the scene.The store was reopened by 4:05 p.m.
