Law enforcement recovered over a dozen stolen vehicles and motorcycles in western Bastrop County after investigating a tip.
On March 11, the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) received a tip from the Bluebonnet Area Crime Stoppers program about a property at Forest Lake Drive, west of Cedar Creek, according to an announcement on BCSO’s Facebook page. The top said the property had a large number of stolen vehicles. The next day, the BCSO narcotics unit, auto theft unit and special response team served a search warrant at the property.
BCSO investigators recovered five stolen vehicles and nine stolen motorcycles on the property, as well as four handguns and several bags of methamphetamine inside the residence.
Two people-52-year-old Jerry Dean Shook and 68-year-old Alton Stafford—were arrested and jailed at the Bastrop County jail. Shook was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance, and Stafford was arrested for two felony warrants for possession of a controlled substance and one warrant for a weapons offense. Additional charges are pending further investigation.
