It was a good morning for the residents of Bastrop and surrounding counties with the arrest of a suspected narcotic dealer and the confiscation of illegal drugs that was destined for our community.
On October 23, the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team along with the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit in cooperation with the Austin Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 100 block of Edge Rock Drive in Del Valle, Texas.
Inside the residence, investigators located approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine, approximately seven grams of suspected fentanyl, opioid prescription pills, cocaine, seven rifles and one handgun.
The resident of the house, Penny Havel, 43 years of age, was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one count of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Havel is currently in custody in the Bastrop County Jail.
