On Sunday morning at 10:11 a.m., the Elgin Police Department (EPD) announced that they were working a major collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 290 and South State Highway 95. Drivers were encouraged to take an alternate route or be patient while traveling east on Highway 290. Portions of the eastbound side of the roadway were shut down, and around noon, drivers could not turn south onto Highway 95.
