Shelter dog population fully healthy

After battling a canine distemper outbreak earlier this summer, the Bastrop County Animal Shelter (BCAS) now has a healthy dog population once again. “We would like to thank the community for your patience and understanding while we cautiously navigated the difficult waters of having distemper affect the shelter canine population,” the shelter said in an announcement on their Facebook page on August 4. “We are now able to say that, after weeks of working with Austin Pets Alive!, observing and testing with out-of-state laboratories, we are happy to say that we have a healthy population once again.
