Schools closed last week due to weather

Last week’s severe cold, heavy snow and icy conditions—and the resulting electricity and water challenges—led to area schools such as Elgin ISD to move to remote learning or cancel classes altogether. On Tuesday, February 16, Elgin ISD released a letter to parents announcing that school would be closed through Thursday due to unrestored power and water outages in parts of central Texas. Remote instruction was scheduled to resume for all students on Friday, assuming conditions improved, and planned to resume normal operations on Monday.
