On March 24, at approximately 8:50 p.m., City of Bastrop police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of State Highway 71 East in reference to an automobile-pedestrian crash. Several Bastrop police officers arrived on scene with mutual aid received from Bastrop Fire Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety. A preliminary investigation indicates an adult male, identified as Justin Carl York, age 41 of Oklahoma, was walking north, attempting to cross the eastbound main lanes of traffic when he was struck by a vehicle.
