County deputy Paula Birran was appointed by the Bastrop County Commissioners Court during last Monday’s meeting as the new Precinct 4 constable. During the May 28 commissioners’ court meeting, County Judge Paul Pape announced the previous constable, Salvador Abreo, would be resigning effective August 2, due to health concerns. To fill the remainder of his term, three candidates submitted their applications.
