Elgin will host this year’s countywide celebration for one of America’s civil rights pioneers.On Monday, Jan. 16, the 34th Annual Walk for Peace, Justice, and Equality will begin at 10 a.m. The march is in remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. on his namesake day.The Bastrop County Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission presents the walk and celebration. The event rotates yearly between host cities in the county.Elgin’s march will begin at Veterans Memorial Park, 109 Depot Street, and then head downtown toward Booker T.
