Starting this upcoming school year, the Elgin Middle School will require all of its students to use only clear backpacks. The policy states that if a student brings a backpack to school, it must be completely clear. However, students will be able to have small colored mesh pouches for personal items in their backpacks. Students will also be allowed to have nontransparent lunch boxes or pouches. Athletic bags, which are not to be carried around the school and are provided by the school, will remain nontransparent.
