On Monday morning, a crowd of people gathered on the lawn of the Bastrop County courthouse to request the removal of a Confederate monument. At the same time, during the commissioners court meeting, others asked the court to set a special meeting to discuss the monument. The protest outside of the courthouse consisted of a series of speakers, followed by a march around the courthouse. See more in next week's edition of the Elgin Courier.
