A fundraiser on Saturday, April 9 raised thousands to help Elginites recover from last month’s tornado. Kathleen Ellis organized the tornado relief benefit, selling barbecue chicken plates and baked goods and featuring a raffle and silent auction, at Elgin VFW Post 6115. All proceeds went to the Bastrop County Long Term Recovery Team, directly helping those impacted by the tornado that hit south and east of Elgin on March 21. In the end, the fundraiser raised $7,753.
