On Saturday, March 21, at 12:18 a.m., Taylor Police responded to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Taylor for a deceased female with a gunshot wound to the face.
The deceased is identified as Jade Erwin, 17 years, of Elgin.
Two subjects had fled on foot from the hospital prior to police arrival. Taylor Patrol Officers apprehended a female and a male subject, later identified as Marquis Wilson, 25, of Elgin. The two were found hiding in a dumpster behind Beall’s Department Store. The vehicle from which the shooting occurred was located at the hospital that was left by the female subject and Wilson.
An investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in a moving vehicle in Bastrop County. The subjects drove to the hospital in Taylor, where Erwin was dead on arrival.
Taylor detectives responded and are being assisted by the Williamson County Crime Scene Unit, Williamson County Deputies, Taylor Police Department Victim Services, Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter unit and the Texas Rangers.
After conferring with the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office, Taylor Police have charged Marquis Wilson with Manslaughter, a second degree felony. Wilson has been booked into the Williamson County Jail. The female subject was a witness who has been questioned and released.
