The Elgin ISD school board approved an updated version of their five-year District of Innovation plan during their last meeting on Monday, December 14.
During the 84th Legislative Session in 2015, the Texas Legislature passed the Districts of Innovation Bill, which allowed traditional independent school districts with an accountability rating of at least “acceptable” or “C” to have some of the same options that open enrollment charter schools have to innovate in areas such as curriculum, instruction, community involvement, discipline, calendar and budgeting.
