Dozens of acres burn in wildfire near Highway 21

A fire caused by outdoor cooking spread across 37 acres in central Bastrop County on Saturday and Sunday, threatening 15 homes and causing residents in 24 homes to evacuate. At 5:45 p.m. on Saturday evening, Bastrop County Emergency Services District No. 2 (BCESD 2) first reported units en route to a fire on Cassel Way, located near Highway 21 and FM 1441, on their Facebook page. The Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) warned about the fire in the vicinity of Cassel Way, Kelley Road and FM 1441 at 6:13 p.m. on their Facebook page.
