The Bastrop County Democratic Party (BCDP) has elected Steve Chamberlain as the new party chair after Cheryl Reese stepped down to run for Bastrop County Precinct 4 Commissioner. Chamberlain and his wife Sharon moved to Bastrop County in 2016 to be closer to family in Austin. After attending a Bernie Sanders rally in 2016, he met members of BCDP and became active with the group.
