Council paves way for new assisted living facility downtown

The Elgin City Council approved a rezoning ordinance to create a planned development district for a proposed assisting living facility near downtown during their meeting last month on December 7.The rezoning into a planned development district would allow for the proposed assisted living facility, called Nana’s House, on a 1.238-acre piece of property partially owned by the city at the southeast corner of Avenue A and Central Avenue.Maximizing the use of the property would require the city to convey its portion of the property to the developer.
