Community members train for disaster response

Sixteen individuals from Bastrop County, as well as other Texas counties, are better prepared for emergency and disaster preparation and response after participating in the FEMA G317 Basic Introduction to CERT training. Bastrop County Community Response Team sponsored the FEMA training at the Bastrop County Emergency Operations Center last week. According to the National CERT mission statement, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training “empowers individuals with the knowledge necessary to promote resiliency in their community through preparedness, response, and recovery.” Individuals who attended this G317 training volunteered 24 hours of their time to classroom and field experience.
