Census team seeks temporary workers

Posted in:

A representative from the U.S. Census team will give a presentation for the Elgin Evening Lions Club during their meeting on January 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Jalisco Mexican Restaurant.

This presentation will include updates to the 2020 census process, provide information on temporary Census jobs and answer questions and can be completed in less than 10 minutes with questions.

The 2020 Census officially begins on April 1, 2020. Every ten years, the Census Bureau tries to account for every individual in every community in the U.S. The results of the census have real-world impacts, from allocation of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives to funding for roads and schools. This year, the census will be available online for the first time.

The job offers great pay and flexible hours; pay for census takers in Travis County will begin at $23 per hour, and work will be temporary and can be done in the evenings and on weekends. Paid training will begin in March. Interested applicants can apply online at 2020census.gov/jobs
