The Elgin Police Department (EPD) Criminal Investigations Division is currently investigating the theft of a BBQ pit from the Elgin High School.

The theft occurred on July 31, when around 10:51 p.m., a vehicle entered the high school parking lot and took the Elgin FFA trailered BBQ pit, then fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black or dark-colored four-door Chevrolet Silverado from between 2014 and 2018 with dark tinted windows, aftermarket black wheels and a toolbox mounted in the bed of the truck.

After EPD shared an intelligence bulletin about the theft on August 7, the BBQ pit was recovered and delivered back to the school.

EPD is still looking for any information leading to the identity of the suspect. Anyone with information related to this theft is asked to contact Sergeant Aaron Crim at acrim@pd.ci.elgin.tx.us or by calling 512-229-3248.
