Tornado victims clean up with help from Elgin community

In the month after a tornado cut a destructive path through rural neighborhoods south and east of Elgin, those who lost their homes have been busy cleaning up the mountains of tree limbs and debris—with help from their friends and neighbors.On the evening of Monday, March 21, an EF-2 tornado with a peak wind speed of 130 miles per hour traveled about 12 miles, touching down near Upper Elgin River Road before dissipating near Old Lexington Road, crossing FM 1704, State Highway 95 and U.S. Highway 290.
