After taking last year off due to the pandemic, the annual Watermelon Festival returned to McDade on Saturday, July 10. The weekend kicked off with a street dance in downtown McDade, with live music by Kenny Orts & No Chance Band, on Friday night. The prize melons were weighed first thing Saturday morning, the annual grand parade traveled down Old Highway 20 at 10:30 a.m., then the festival began at the Watermelon Festival grounds.
