City buildings begin to reopen

Posted in:

On Monday, the Elgin Recreation Center re-opened with a few changes to ensure the safety of everyone in the facility.

The Elgin Recreation Center will be open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. by appointment only. Appointments can be made online by visiting secure.rec1.com/TX/elgin-tx/catalog and clicking “Elgin Recreation Center,” or over the phone Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reservations are available for one of three spaces that can accommodate up to four people from the same household: the studio room, gym half A and gym half B.

At this time, the weight room, locker rooms and water fountains will remain closed.

The Elgin Recreation Center is following the CDC’s recommendations for cleaning to maximize the safety of patrons and staff.

For any questions, call 512-285-6434 or email parks@ci.elgin.tx.us.

The Elgin Public Library has also begun to offer some of its services again.

Starting on Monday, the computers at the library are available by reservation for 45-minute sessions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information or to reserve a spot, call 512-281-5678.

The library also began offering sidewalk book deliveries last month. The service is available Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Books can be reserved through the library website or by calling 512-281-5678.

Other City of Elgin buildings and facilities have also reopened to the public as of Monday, such as City Hall, the municipal court, utility billing and planning & development. Visit online at www.elgintx.com for details and the latest information.
