Bastrop-based wildlife non-profit Pines and Prairies Land Trust (PPLT) opened its Yegua Knobbs preserve on Saturday, January 23 for people to visit and explore.
Yegua Knobbs is a 302-acre wildlife preserve full of hills, woods, pastures, rough trails and ponds north of McDade. The preserve is typically closed to the public, except for PPLT-led hikes, events for groups upon request and open preserve events such as last month's.
