The recently-founded Smithville Workforce Training Center celebrated the graduation of its charter class of certified nursing assistants this month. The training center, which was created by the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce last year, partnered with Towers Nursing Home to provide on-the-job training and pay for state certification for the graduates. Additionally, the training center offers GED and English classes, and is partnering with Community Action and Austin Community College to provide HVAC and plumbing certification classes starting this week.
