Yvonne Young and Ginny Cole welcome guests to last year's Hot Cocoa Stroll.

Celebrate the holidays in downtown Elgin this Saturday, December 7 from 2 to 5 p.m with Holiday by the Tracks.

Select a limited-edition holiday souvenir mug and sample a variety of Hot Cocoa from downtown businesses and vote for your favorite during the Hot Cocoa Stroll. Holiday by the Tracks includes visits with Santa from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a day of shopping at the local businesses in historic downtown Elgin. The VFD Lighted Christmas Parade starts at dusk and is followed by a live nativity by St. Peters Lutheran Church.

Elgin is home to two choose-and-cut Christmas tree farms: Elgin Christmas Tree Farm and Evergreen Christmas Tree Farm. Add selecting a locally grown native tree to your holiday fun!

Businesses and organizations are encouraged to sign up to pass out free hot cocoa samples to anyone that has purchased a holiday mug for the Hot Cocoa Stroll. These festive holiday mugs will be on sale for $10 from the Chamber

File photo and will allow participants to sample hot cocoa from participating “Chocolatiers!” If you do not have a downtown business, you can still participate; space will be available to set up for any business, church or organization not physically located in downtown that wishes to serve cocoa.

Chocolatiers will also compete for prizes in the best of the best tasting contest. Hot Cocoa will be judged in the categories of best milk chocolate cocoa, best dark chocolate cocoa, most creative hot cocoa and people's choice of best cocoa.
