It’s happening! After years of regular standing-room-only crowds for several of their weekend Masses, Sacred Heart Catholic Parish is building a new church.
Sacred Heart Parish of Elgin, Texas, established in 1906, is growing and looking to “Build a Future Together” to better serve the Elgin community.
The year 2020 has presented many challenges but has not stopped Sacred Heart Catholic Church from looking to the future. Under Fr. George Joseph’s leadership, the “Building a Future Together” campaign started January 2020.
Fr. George is committed to seeing this dream become a reality and stated, “Through many years of consultation with parish leadership, and in lifting these needs up in prayer before the Lord, a plan has been created to meet the present and future needs of our parish and it ministries, activities, and organizations. In order to achieve these goals, we are embarking on a capital campaign, Building A Future Together, to not only sustain but enhance Sacred Heart’s physical and spiritual presence.”
The architect, W. C. Scarmardo, is working on the final blueprints. The land has been surveyed and the necessary paperwork has been submitted to the city of Elgin for permits. The building committee recently met with Navcon Group, the construction management company overseeing the project, and plan to break ground in the spring.
The new 10,600 square foot church will increase the capacity to 600 and provide a new inspiring area for worship.
Sacred Heart Catholic Parish is grateful to the Sacred Heart community for their generous support in bringing this dream to a reality.
We invite the Elgin community and surrounding areas to join us in support of “Building a Future Together” by offering your prayers.
