Bil and Mary Jane Kahanek are the Parade Marshals for this year's McDade Watermelon Festival.In 1986, the Kahanek family moved to McDade from Austin. They took part in the community right away.Bil joined the McDade ISD school board, which he served on for 28 years. Mary Jane helped out the PTA and had her hands full with their four children.The Kahanek family was also very involved in their parish, Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop.
