Midsummer reunion celebrates Elgin's Swedish history

Descendants of the Swedish immigrants who settled in the Elgin area celebrated Swedish culture at the 74th annual Swedish Midsummer reunion on Thursday, June 24. The evening began with social time and dinner, followed by a maypole dance with participants winding their way around the maypole, music by accordionist Rollie Revering, and recognitions of the oldest man and woman in the community and the longest-married couple.   Photos by Julianne Hodges ...
