The Elgin Juneteenth Organization sponsored their annual Shop with a Cop program, where officers from the Elgin Police Department are paired up with local children and given gift cards at a store to buy toys and clothes. Due to COVID-19, instead of letting the participating children actually shop at the store, gift cards were given to 20 children between the ages of five and ten years old.
