A group of Elgin natives recently celebrated 75 years of friendship.Karin Barker, Margie Snyder, Mary-Jo Preece, Janie Dameron, Judy Sanders and Delores Wenzel became best of friends in first grade and have remained close ever since. These women still meet for lunch at least once every month, and they believe effort is the key to sustaining lifelong friendships. Growing up, maintaining their closeness was never an issue because Elgin was such a small town.“The high school wasn’t that big,” Barker said.
