Empty Bowl returns in-person

Local restaurants served up their best soup for the fourth annual Empty Bowl Project in Elgin on Saturday. Last year, due to COVID-19, the annual fundraiser was turned into a drive-through event, but this year returned to its usual in-person meal. The Elgin Empty Bowl featured soups from Meyer’s Elgin Smokehouse, Southside Market & BBQ, Roadhouse in Paige, Jalisco’s, Firewild, Little Beijing and Jackson Soul this year. The proceeds from the event support the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry, Community Cupboard, and the First Baptist Church of Elgin.
