Henry "Perk" Hernandez was recently honored by family and friends. Perk's volunteerism for countless benefits and fundraising activities throughout decades of serving Elginites were lauded by Elgin Mayor Ron Ramirez and his loving family and friends.“He has raised his hand every time someone was in need and asked for his help, and it's certainly time we all gave Perk a well-deserved thank you from our community,” Ramirez said. “And who can resist his delicious grilling and other food preparation?" Perk's wife Sophie and his kids and grandkids were the proud sponsors of the party in his honor.
