Marisol Rivas Carbajal of Elgin was recently awarded a $30,000 scholarship by The Sumners Foundation of Irving, Texas. Scholarships are awarded by the Foundation based on academic excellence, civic engagement, and a capacity for leadership. Marisol is a rising junior at St. Edward’s University double majoring in global studies and Spanish.
