The Elgin Juneteenth Organization will sponsor Shop with a Cop.  Gift cards will be given to selected children in lieu of actually shopping with a cop due to COVID-19.

This year’s program is open to all Elgin Independent School District children between the ages of five and ten years of age. Participants will be selected by a random drawing.

Parents/guardians may submit their child’s name, limited to one youth per family, by contacting Charlotte Thomas at 512-784-9617, Elsie Williams at 512-550-2997 or 512-281-6322, or emailing for more information. The deadline to request information and submit a name is Monday, December 7.

Before the COVID-19 Pandemic, Shop with a Cop paired Elgin police officers with local children and provided a gift card from the Elgin Juneteenth Organization and their sponsors to spend on clothes and toys. The intent is not just about shopping, but also about building relationships between the kids and Elgin police officers. This is a great opportunity for law enforcement and the community to work together and make some of our Elgin children’s holiday season a little brighter.

If you, your business or organization would like to be a sponsor for 2020, please contact the names listed above for more information.

Elgin Juneteenth Organization is a 501(c)3 community base organization dedicated to serving the Elgin community for the past 22 years.
