Elgin Girl Scout's mural promotes awareness and inclusion of local LGBT+ community

Heather Miller, an Elgin High School senior, is working on earning the Girl Scout Gold Award. The Gold Award challenges Girl Scouts to develop projects which address local and global issues with sustainable solutions. Heather has raised over $4,000 and worked a total of 86 hours to dedicate a mural in Elgin to highlight the importance of representation of the LGBT+ community. With the support of Elgin’s Main Street Board, Miller's mural forms part of the public arts plan for downtown Elgin, which aims to showcase the community’s diversity.
