On the evening of Veterans' Day, First Baptist Church of Elgin held a ceremony gifting special Quilts of Valor to many local veterans. The ceremony started with an explanation of the significance of the quilts and the history of the Quilts of Valor foundation by Quilts of Valor representative Pamela Ficklin. The idea began in 2003 when Catherine Roberts' son was deployed in Iraq.
