Billy’s BBQ celebrates 37th anniversary

Even though other barbecue joints have come and gone, Billy’s Bar-B-Q in Bastrop is still thriving today on Highway 71. The highway overpass deflected traffic, and many commercial venues have folded over the years, but Billy’s survived. Billy Reid started out working with his father, Willard Reid, in downtown Bastrop in Alley A at his restaurant called Briegers Cafe in the 1960s.
