Many bicyclists journeying through eastern Travis County know New Sweden Lutheran Church as an idyllic rest stop and a hard-to-miss landmark. On Saturday, April 9, dozens of cyclists gathered at the church to have their bicycles blessed and celebrate their pastime with fellow riders.Yvonne Carroll of New Sweden Lutheran Church, a historic church northwest of Elgin in the New Sweden community, said she got the idea for a bicycle blessing from the many bicyclists that stop at the church as they ride past, resting at a bench under the beautiful trees and filling up on water at the church’s faucet.
