Annual MLK walk explores Bastrop’s Black history

Bastrop hosted this year’s county-wide celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a walk through Bastrop and a virtual program on Monday morning.The walk visited five historically-important sites in Bastrop—Paul Quinn African Methodist Episcopal Church, Kerr Community Center, Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church, Emile Elementary School and Macedonia First Baptist Church—with discussions of their history at each site.After the walk, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program was held virtually due to COVID-19.
