The year 2020 will be remembered by our Elgin Wildcat seniors as they embark in a new journey. First National Bank made sure that these seniors were rewarded for their hard work.

The graduating seniors were all invited to come by the banks’ lobby on Friday, June 5 to receive their special gifts. Each student came by sporadically throughout the day and was given a coupon for a free breakfast taco provided by Jalisco’s and a gift card provided by local Elgin businesses. These businesses wanted to reward the seniors with a gift that marked a job well done.

This past school year was very tough for these students, as senior Caden Hunt shared. When the pandemic of the COVID-19 started, he said he was very discouraged and he wanted to give up. Then he realized the reality of life hit hard. He knew that if he gave up, he wouldn’t have a bright future for himself, so he decided to move forward.

“I made it!” he said, with a smile on his face.

Two employees of First National Bank, Jessica Medina and Jessica Hopkins, greeted the students with a smile as they gave them their gift. Medina shared that she was grateful to be part of the spirit of giving that First National Bank hosted for the senior of 2020. She knows that a little caring goes a long way. As for Jessica Hopkins, she was glad she was able to experience the time of giving hope to the seniors.
