Community members brought their vehicles, decorated for Halloween, to Old Highway 20 between Waco Street and Bastrop Street, to hand out candy for costumed trick-or-treaters. Food and beverages were sold to support the McDade Historical Society.

Read moreBastropians strolled through downtown Bastrop searching for paintings of birds on downtown businesses’ storefronts for the Bastrop Bird Walk on Saturday, October 17. Participants searched for 22 such paintings of local birds in order to complete a checklist. The bird walk celebrates Bastrop’s Bird City designation, which was officially earned earlier this year and recognizes the ways that Bastrop is bird-friendly.

During the Elgin ISD school board virtual meeting on October 19, Superintendent Jodi Duron introduced the principals and assistant principals at Elgin ISD campuses by showing the board pictures of each campus leadership team. She also told the board that each principal and assistant principal would receive a t-shirt recognizing that they can do “virtually anything.”
