Lately in America, school shootings have been a very hot button topic.

In the year of 2018, there have been five school shootings in which a gun was discharged and victims were either killed or injured.

I, personally, am not an expert on the topic; I don’t know anything about forensics, I don’t know a whole lot about the statistics one could analyze on school shootings, and I certainly don’t have the answer to the big question of, “how do we prevent school shootings?”

As a student, however, I know that I should not have to be afraid of being shot at when I go to school. When my classmates and I walk through the doors of our school every morning we should not have to worry about our lives being threatened. I know many parents that have to worry every day that their child is not safe at school; a concern a parent certainly should not have to have.

Again, I am not an expert on school shootings and I do not know how to prevent them.

I do know that change needs to happen. The government and schools in America need to work together to take action so that the future of America can earn their education in safety without worry.
