Gary Mark Lundgren was born November 15, 1957 at Fleming Hospital in Elgin Texas.  He left us on March 7, 2018.  Gary had battled Myasthenia Gravis and Cancer for the last 11 years.  Gary lived a full and exciting life with many of us looking forward to his stories and adventures.

When Gary was younger, he worked at the Elgin Cotton Oil Mill, his family’s business.  He also built a Cotton Gin in Pearsall. Gary was very proud of that accomplishment. Gary’s true calling was cards. Gary loved Texas Hold Em and competed in many World Series Tournaments in Las Vegas at Binion’s Horseshoe and around the country.

At age 26 Gary was ranked number 26 in the world of Texas Hold Em poker players.

Gary also loved golf and spent many afternoons on the golf course perfecting his game. Gary enjoyed weekly golf outings with a group of Elgin golf friends at Pine Forrest Golf Club.  Some of those included Gary “Grub” Corbett, Bubba Snowden, Glenn Zieschang, Bob Barker, David and Brian Lundgren, Charles Lundgren and W. E. Arbuckle.

Gary enjoyed restoring his baby blue convertible Cadillac with white leather seats.  Once restored, he loved picking up friends and riding around listening to Vern Gosdin.

He also loved a good steak and a nice bottle of wine, which led him to open Regi’s in downtown Elgin.

Gary loved his family and friends. His proudest accomplishment was the love of his life, Myles.

Gary is survived by his son Myles, mother Nellie and his brothers David and wife Martha, Randy and wife Elisa, and Brian and his wife Jamie.

Also survived by nephew Rex Lundgren and wife Krista, niece Alex Lundgren and nephews Chad Lundgren and Taylor Lundgren and wife Jessica. His dearest and best friend whom were also cousins, Bubba and Donna Snowden. Gary also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends from childhood into adulthood.

He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Lundgren, grandparents E. O. Lundgren and Hulda Lundgren and Fred and Gertrude Burmeister.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life was held Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.

Arrangements were entrusted to Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home
