Watermelon Festival crowns new royalty

A large crowd attended the 64th Annual McDade Watermelon Festival Queens’ Coronation on Saturday, July 14, crowning three lovely young ladies to serve as their queens for the coming year.

Queen Avirett Lewis, daughter of Andrew and Kelly Lewis, was crowned Tiny Tot Queen, escorted by King Tanner Ledlie, son of Jason and Kim Ledlie.  

Queen Jackie Stark, daughter of Bryan and Charlynne Farris, was crowned Junior Queen, escorted by King Clayton Calhoun, son of John and Kim Farris Calhoun.

Queen Cassidy Brune, daughter of Gretchen and Mike Brune, was crowned Teenage Queen, escorted by King Elijah Simpson, son of Keith and Helen Simpson.  

Tiny Tot Princess Kelsey Dube and Prince Joshua Dube, children of Jed and Kathy Dube.

Tiny Tot Duchess Mackenzie Farris, daughter of Bryan Farris and Angela Farris, escorted by Duke Gage Merservy, son of Christine Merservy.

Teenage Princess Anna Gosnell, granddaughter of Pack and Anne Grimma, escorted by Prince Nick Kanak, son of Darrell and Ilona Kanak.  

Carrying seeds for the 2011 Queens Court were J’Den Perry, daughter of Ryan and Melanie Perry, and Lara Rother, daughter of Brock and Michelle Rother.

Serving as Train Carriers were Colby Miller, son of Joey and Amanda Miller, and Owen Thomas, son of Roy and Sabrina Thomas.

Helping the young ones was Shelley Perry, daughter of Ryan and Melanie Perry.

Giving up their crowns were 2011 Tiny Tot Queen Lauren Glosson, daughter of Gary and Karen Glosson, and King Gavin Walla, son of Richard and Christine Walla. 2011 Junior Queen Rebecca Gonzales, daughter of Glen and Jennifer Reynolds, and King Chance Villanueva, son of Bobby and Lisa Villanueva.  2011 Teenage Queen Amber Wood, daughter of Rick and Christi Wood, and King Josh Ficklin, son of Glen and Jennifer Reynolds.

Representing Bastrop County  was Junior Queen Arianna Villanueva, daughter of Bobby and Lisa Villanueva.

Master of Ceremonies was Freddie Wilson; music was provided by Sandy Rother; Invocation by Brother Randy Tumlinson, National Anthem was sung by Holly Madewell and Anna Gosnell, photography by Melanie Perry and Queens Revue and Coronation Chairperson was Gina Griffith.

    Last year my friend's daughter participated in it, so know how joyful event is this!! [smile]
