Pearls Before Swine Art Show winners named

The Elgin Arts Association says thank you all who participated in the Pearls Before Swine Gala and Art Show during the Hogeye Festival in October.  

The following artists received the judge awards: first place award of $300 went to Ellen M. Hinds for her metal sculpture, “Paul, the Walrus”; second place award of $200 went to Sharon Moon for her oil painting, “Elegance”; third place award of $100 went to Darcy Schneider for her watercolor, “Sunflowers”. 

The People’s Choice award of $400 went to James B. Janknegt for his “Nativity Triptych”.

Many thanks to Patsy Graham, owner of the show venue, 115 N. Main and her daughter Sarah Jones for donating the space.  

A big thanks to the Elgin Main Street Board for sponsoring the gala reception and to Quiche and Crumb Patisserie for the goodies they provided.  

To all our Patrons, we say thank you: Solid Ground Storage, Elgin Chiropractic, Post 295 American Legion Auxiliary, Elgin Smiles Dental Care, Elgin Family Dental, Winkler & Company Realtors, Menley Group, McCrary Insurance, and A Flower Connection.  

We also want to thank everyone who donated art or items for the Silent Auction and raffle.  

A total of $2,900 was accumulated to be used for scholarships in the upcoming Pearls of Youth Art Show in 2018.
