The Morris Memorial Park Swimming Pool recently obtained a special chair that will help give everyone a better chance to cool off. The Elgin Parks and Recreation Department ordered the chair at the beginning of the season in order to provide patrons with limited mobility easier access to the pool. A lifeguard can use the chair to help people enter and exit the pool.
The chair was one of several proactive steps taken at the pool this year, including uniforms for the staff, a cashier position, an onsite supervisor, swimming lessons and water aerobics instructors. The pool remains open through Sept. 2.
Starting Aug. 17, the pool will be open weekends only, though Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening aerobics will continue. Check the website or call the city for a complete schedule.
